COLUMBUS, Neb. - Scammers are trying out some new tactics during the pandemic. Media Relations Specialist for the Nebraska Public Power District Grant Otten told KXCV/KRNW that they've seen a new wave of text scams.

Otten says the NPPD will not call or text a customer and demand payment or threaten to cut off a customer's power.

During the current pandemic, NPPD as well as many other electric providers have suspended all disconnects and late payment fees, and encourage customers to reach out if they are having trouble paying their bills.
